In 1975, Rev. Leo C. Brown, Jr. was called by God to pastor his own church. God gave him the inspiration to name the church "True Vine". Since Rev. Brown is a man lead by God, he stepped out on faith and he started the True Vine Community Church of God in Christ. The first church home was in the basement of an office complex in Lakewood, Washington.
In February 1976, Rev. Brown was given a brochure of church property that was available for purchase. Having faith in God, a proposal was submitted and in March of 1976 the edifice at 5715 North 33rd became the new home to the members of the True Vine Community Church of God in Christ. True Vine was started with very few members, but God has given the increase and the membership has been multiplying continuously. We are blessed to have licensed Elders, Ministers, Missionaries, Aspiring Missionaries and Deacons. There are many Ministries that are effective in our community. We have something to offer the old and young alike.
The Lord has blessed True Vine to have a great impact in the community. We have an Evangelistic and Prison Outreach Ministry. True Vine also reaches out to our senior citizens as well as our handicapped by providing a 23-unit, low income residence known as the "Barbara Jean Brown Manor".
Every summer True Vine Community Services 5o1c3 sponsors a summer youth camp program called "Operation Longthrust", which takes children from all walks of life to a Christian summer camp for a week, for a very nominal fee
True Vine is known for its excellent music department.
From the ministry of True Vine other churches have been birth out and are located across the continental United States. They are thriving and are doing very well.
True Vine continues to grow and teach the Word of God as it is written in the scriptures. We believe that when we pray, God hears our prayers and prayer changes things. True Vine is a praying church being lead by the Spirit of God.
